more about Kate & Nicole
I'm Kate-- Associate Wedding Planner and lover of learning! I'm here to provide perfectly polished lists that teach soon-to-be newlyweds how to make their dream wedding a reality. We believe every love story is unique and beautiful, and we can't wait to bring your vision to life. Welcome to the family!
hey friends!
The year started as any other as I geared up to start my last full semester of school while Nicole attended a New Year’s Eve wedding. January & February were filled with classes for me and I landed two event planning jobs in Columbus! Nicole continued her planning meetings as usual until… March came around. Regular meetings became “Corona catch-up” meetings, planning progress was either halted or cancelled all together, and seeing people in person became a thing of the past. My entire semester was going to be finished online & I couldn’t work at my current job anymore, so I moved home. Nicole’s world was flipped upside down because for the first time she had to reschedule almost everything. Masks, social distancing, and the odd lack of toilet paper at grocery stores (???) became the norm and no one really knew what to do. A year later and I still don’t think anyone knows what to do.
With so much uncertainty, loss, and struggle this past year, it was sometimes hard to find the good. It actually took effort and energy to find the good. But it was still there. If my classes hadn’t become virtual and I hadn’t moved home, I wouldn’t be working with Nicole, or writing this blog for that matter. Nicole helped 11 couples start their happily ever after and I got to witness my first weddings behind the scenes. Nicole had to reschedule her own wedding, but now it’s going to be even more spectacular than it would have been (and I get to be a part of it!). My family rescued a new dog, which wouldn’t have happened if it weren’t for the stay at home order. My graduation was also virtual but instead of a long, monotonous graduation ceremony with only a guest or two in attendance, I was able to celebrate at home instead with my closest family and friends. Nicole had more time to spend at home with her fiancé, Mike, and their sweet pups, Larry & Moe. I could go on and on about all of the little things that we are thankful for this year despite the many stressors and challenges, but my point is that we made it to this day. I say all of this not to lessen the hardships endured this year, but to remind you to appreciate all the little things that you can because that’s what will get us through.
